Doshic Action

Pacifies Tridoṣas — especially Vāta and Pitta when taken with ghee or jaggery, and Kapha when taken with honey.
Acts mainly on Annavaha srotas (digestive tract), Rasavaha and Raktavaha srotas, aiding systemic detoxification and rejuvenation.

Therapeutic Indications

Harītakī is regarded as the Mother of all herbs (Vaidya-mātā) and one of the Maha Rasāyanas described in Charaka Samhita.
It rejuvenates tissues, regulates bowel movements, strengthens Agni, and purifies body channels (Srotas).

It is beneficial in:

• Agnimāndya (Weak digestion, low appetite)

• Āma-janya vikāra (Metabolic toxin accumulation)

• Anaha (Constipation, abdominal distension)

• Atisāra / Grahaṇī (IBS, diarrhea, malabsorption)

Pharmacological Insights

Terminalia chebula contains tannins (chebulagic acid, chebulinic acid), gallic acid, ellagic acid, flavonoids, and glycosides.
These confer antioxidant, adaptogenic, hepatoprotective, laxative, antimicrobial, neuroprotective, and immunomodulatory actions.
Modern studies validate its traditional use for gut health, metabolic regulation, detoxification, and cellular rejuvenation.
