Blue Lotus (Neelotpala) is a symbol of serenity and purity, used traditionally to cool the system, calm emotional turbulence, and nourish Rasa and Ojas. Its cooling energy and soothing fragrance make it an excellent herb for Pitta-predominant conditions of the mind, skin, and blood.
It is beneficial in:
Jvara (Fever with burning and heat)
Raktapitta (Bleeding disorders, heat in blood)
Dāha (Burning sensations, hyperacidity, inflammation)
Tr̥ṣṇā (Excessive thirst, dehydration)
Pittaja Unmāda (Emotional disturbances, irritability, restlessness)

Kushta (Skin diseases with redness, rashes, and burning)
Netra-dāha (Eye burning, irritation)
Raktaprasādana (Cooling and purifying blood)
It is also used in medhya–rasāyana formulations for promoting calm awareness and balanced emotions.
Nymphaea caerulea flowers contain flavonoids, alkaloids (nuciferine), tannins, glycosides, and essential oils with antioxidant, anxiolytic, sedative, and anti-inflammatory properties.
Modern research validates its role as a natural relaxant, mood enhancer, hepatoprotective, and antipyretic agent — aligning perfectly with its Ayurvedic classification as a Pittashāmaka–Manas-balya dravya.
